About
Alex brings with him over 27 years’ experience in requirements setting, talent development policy setting, learning analysis, design, development, delivery, management, and evaluation in a variety of defence roles and within the Royal Navy (RN).
Within QA, Alex is a senior learning solutions consultant in the Defence & HMG team having joined in 2022. He comes from leading the RN’s Progression team as part of the Service’s People Transformation Programme.
Prior to this he served on nuclear submarines and over the course of his naval career he governed the RN’s largest training contract, was the RN’s Director of Strategic Studies working as part of the First Sea Lord’s Naval Staff, Headed Talent Management Strategy and Policy, Directed the HR Training Services Group and Chaired NATO’s Naval Training Group.
Maintaining a continual approach to professional development, he has a MSc in Leadership and Development and is an active member of the CIPD and CMI communities.
Outside QA he is a professional mentor for the Common Mission Project, a charitable organisation that works across public and private sector organisations as well as academia; creating an international network of entrepreneurs working to solve critical challenges of our time. He is also a mentor for undergraduates at Queen Mary’s College (University of London).
