Markland Starkie is Deputy Director for Digital at Francis Maude Associates, joining the company in 2022 with a focus on public sector digital transformation. Before joining FMA, Markland spent several years in leadership positions at the Government Digital Service, first as Head of Content for GOV. And later Deputy Director for GOV.UK. While GDS, he led content and product teams during Brexit and the coronavirus pandemic, both requiring peak efforts in cross-government collaboration to provide clear, simple, and accessible information and services for the UK public quickly. With around 15 years of digital experience in UK public service, Markland has a background in user-centred content design, product management and digital strategy roles, producing high-quality content and services at scale.
